Three-time NCC selection Jason Rhoten highlights the 13-member 2007-2008 North Central Conference Men’s All-Academic At-Large team announced today. Three other team members, North Dakota’s John Fitzgerald, St. Cloud State’s Kevin Luckens and Minnesota State’s Marty Wahle, have been named to the team for the second time. Three-time selection Jill Smolczyk of South Dakota highlights 12 student-athletes named to the 2007-08 Academic All-North Central Conference Women’s At-Large team by a vote of the league’s sports information directors. Smolczyk is making her third appearance on the elite squad while Amanda Kaler of North Dakota and Emilie Kluth of South Dakota are appearing for the second time. North Central Conference Swimming & Diving teams claimed three top-10 finishes at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships. The NCC teams were paced by North Dakota with a third-place finish on the women's side and fifth place finish on the men's side. NCC student-athletes also claimed six individual event championships. The NCC Commisssioner’s Academic Honor Roll for swimming and diving has been compiled and 91 student-athletes have acheived the honor. To qualify student-athletes must have a minimum 3.20 grade point average, have completed at least two semesters at their current school and have competed against outside competition. MORE >>

UNO and UND Claim NCC Swimming & Diving Championships
Nebraska-Omaha won the women’s division by a mere 1 1/2 points and North Dakota captured the men’s title at the NCC Swimming & Diving Championships that concluded today. On the women’s side, Nebraska-Omaha overtook day three leader North Dakota to win with a 1148-1146.5 score while the UND men had a 1435 to 1204 advantage over second-place St. Cloud State. North Dakota Claims NCC Swimming & Diving Championships
North Dakota captured both the men’s and women’s NCC Swimming & Diving Championships that concluded today. On the women’s side, North Dakota outdistanced Nebraska-Omaha 966 to 666 while the UND men had a 1147 to 654.5 advantage over second-place St. Cloud State. The meet began on Wednesday and was comprised of a morning and evening session each day at the Hyslop Sports Center Pool. MORE >>
